1. Who We Are
Portly is a client portal tool for freelancers and consultants. We help you share project updates, files, invoices, and messages with your clients through a single link. Portly is operated as an independent service.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect only what's necessary to run the service:
- Account data: your email address and password (encrypted) when you sign up.
- Portal data: client names, emails, project updates, invoices, files, and messages you create inside Portly.
- Client data: any information your clients send through the portal (messages only — clients don't create accounts).
- Usage data: basic logs such as login timestamps. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and maintain the Portly service.
- To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
- To store and display the content you create (updates, files, invoices, messages).
- To contact you about your account if necessary.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL database and file storage). All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Files are stored in a private cloud bucket accessible only via secure URLs. Invoice PDFs are generated entirely within your browser using its built-in print feature — no invoice data is sent to any third party to produce them.
5. Your Client's Data
When you share a portal link with a client, your client can view portal content and send messages without creating an account. Their messages are stored and visible to you inside your dashboard. You are responsible for informing your clients that their messages are stored as part of your project communication.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your portals, files, invoices, updates, and messages are permanently deleted. This cannot be undone.
7. Your Rights
- You can update your email or password at any time from your settings page.
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your settings page.
- You can contact us to request a copy of your data or ask any privacy-related questions.
8. Cookies
Portly uses a session cookie solely to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Portly after changes means you accept the updated policy.
